About Me

Hello!

My name is Serena Lowry, I am a Middle Years Education student (grades 6-9) at the University of Regina. I am 20 years old and currently in my 3rd year. I am excited for the many, wonderful, experiences to come within my education journey.

I was born and raised in little ol’ Regina, Sask. I am extremely privileged to attend one of the best universities in the country, for their education program, right here in Regina! This privilege allows me to continue to live at home while attending school – my mom is also extremely happy that I didn’t choose to attend a school far away from home – this also allows me to hang out with my cats and be around my family as I am very close with my family.

The photo above is from the Education Student’s Society (ESS) photoshoot for current members. I am the Project Connect/Community Outreach Director for the ESS and I am so happy to be a part of this fantastic team. Being a part of a society where you can expand your knowledge through professional development, make new friends during social events and connect to and help the community through project connect helps develop yourself more as a person.

Growing up I always wanted to be a teacher. I used to play school in my backyard with friends and we would pretend to be teachers and our students were stuffed animals. I always explored other careers when doing school projects but I always came back to the idea of becoming a teacher. I love to learn and share my knowledge with others, I am a strong leader and I love kids – so becoming a teacher is my ideal career!

I am an only child who grew up with a single mother. But, I am the oldest of five cousins in my small, little, family. I am the first to attend university and my mom, and my family, are proud of the path I have chosen to be an educator. Hopefully, I can continue to amaze them, and myself, in everything I do.

I am caring, outgoing, kind, positive, and hopeful; I look forward to passing these traits down to my future students.
